Older Pets 101

As they age, most older dogs and cats get lumps and bumps. Some are not at all serious and can be left alone as long as they are not causing distress to your pet. No one wants to consider that their pet may have cancer. The truth is that in many cases, we can’t tell the difference between a serious tumor or a benign one simply by looking and feeling. Most lumps need at least a simple needle biopsy to determine if surgery or some other treatment is needed. Check your pet at least one to two times monthly for lumps-the earlier we diagnose a troublesome one, the more successful treatment will be. Here are helpful guidelines to look for in your older pet:
